Galaxy – Zhao Xu Art Exhibition will be opened to the public in Nanxincang No.7 Club, on May 11, 2013. This exhibition is a summarizing display of Zhao Xu’s life of art. Among the works, there are sketches from the early 80s to ink wash painting during the 90s, and to current new attempts with multi-media, from ink-wash painting to Western painting, from impressionism to abstractism, and they provide an overview of Zhao Xu’s journey of art.
Zhao Xu got his first fame as an artist when he was very young. He held an exhibition in the National Art Museum of China (NAMOC) in 1996, and this has been the ultimate dream for many Chinese artists. Being in his twenties, he was greatly influenced by Wu Guanzhong. His brushstrokes and lines were all endowed with abstracted beauty; he had a strong passion to this style. From late 1990s to his recent creation, Zhao Xu always paints with oil painting colors. Maybe it is in his nature that he has a strong curiosity for mysterious objects and the unpredictable Nature, this nature of his gradually led him into a mystical world of abstraction during his Western style paintings. An artist’s dedication to the arts is like that of an scientist who explores the mysteries of the Nature and the Universe through thorough investigations and scientific calculations, and Zhao Xu choose to employ painting as a way to reveal his interpretation for the vast galaxies, of which, the Galaxy series, the Solar System series, the Volcano series, and the Earth Core Movement series have been continuing themes of his art creations. In recent two years, he once again takes up his brushes during leisure time, express his twenty years of thinking and feelings onto the canvas; he still feels attached to the mystical and unknown. What is different, however, is that up to this stage, his works are no longer lofty aspirations and sentiments of his unrestrained youth, but full of affection and awe, which have added more gentleness and steadiness.
Time flies, nearly twenty years have passed, Zhao Xu standing at the start point of his life of art, as an artist, presents this exhibition to us. It perhaps is not an attempt to prove his ability in art creation, but to summarize his old dream and that period of life experience. It is probably a common memory of the times, shared group experience, and some sort of commemoration for lost youth! This exhibition will be opened to the public first in Nanxincang No.7 Club, then travel to Beijing Hong Kong Jockey Club Clubhouse and Triumph Art Space, last till July 7th.
“星空——赵旭作品展”将于2013年5月11日四点三十在南新仓7号会馆开幕，本次展览是赵旭先生艺术生涯一次集中的展示，展览作品从八十年代初的素描到九十年代的水墨再到现在的综合媒材新尝试，从水墨到西画，从写意到抽象，总览了赵旭先生的艺术之路。
赵旭先生的艺术家之路却要比常人成功的早，1996年他就在中国美术馆举办“赵旭个人艺术展”。赵旭先生这一时期的水墨画很难看出是出自哪家哪派，但是自幼受吴冠中老先生的影响，他的笔墨和线条都是具有抽象美感的符号，这种形式包含了浓厚的感情。他从九十年代末到如今重拾画笔，他一直尝试油画进行创作，也许是天性里有着对神秘事物和莫测自然的强烈好奇，而这种天性在他的西画创作中将他逐步引导进入一个神秘的抽象世界。他选择用画笔来展现我对浩瀚星河和宇宙的解读，其中星河系列、太阳系列、火山系列与地核运动系列是赵旭先生一直以来创作的主题。直到这两年，赵旭先生又在闲暇之余拿起画笔，此时他的作品已不在是少年时狷狂不羁的豪情壮志，而是平添了感怀与慨叹，增加了更多的平和与厚重。
本次赵旭先生又站到艺术家的原点，只是作为一个热爱艺术追寻梦想的艺术家为我们呈现这个展览，这个画展或许不是为了证明自己画艺的高低如何，而是为了印证那个曾经的梦想、那段个人生命的经历。该展将在南新仓7号会馆、艺凯旋艺术空间-马会空间、艺·凯旋艺术空间，三地顺时展出，展期持续至2013年7月7日。
