Artist’s statement
These are works I have been creating since my return to Beijing from Sydney in 2002.
I’ve always been interested in the topic of “underpants,” because they are something that you can only use but cannot take out to appreciate, much less hang up on the wall. That is because they are “improper.” But what is “proper” and what is “improper”? My experience has often been the opposite.
The two hundred bronze little people, entitled “They,” which I made in 2005, and my 2010 installation work “Rest in Peace,” which is made from plastic waste, are both being exhibited in a gallery for the first time.

这些作品是我自2002年从悉尼回到北京以后陆续制作的。
“内裤”是我一直感兴趣的话题，因为它是只能使用却不能拿出欣赏的物品，尤其是把它们挂在墙上，原因是太“不正经”，但何为“正经”又何为“不正经”？以我的经验往往正好相反。
2005年完成的200件铸铜小人“他们”和2010年使用塑料垃圾制作的装置“安息”，都是第一次在画廊里展示。
